We’re back! And we’re ready for another great year of learning English. From new timetables, to welcome events and even a new Academic Director, we’re starting the term with a bang!
To keep you informed, we’ve created a list of all the changes at Oxford House beginning in October 2019. So get your OH notebook ready, pack your school bag and read on to find out what you can expect during the 2019/2020 school year.
New Academic Director – Jane Perkins
Say hello to our fantastic new Academic Director Jane Perkins.
Jane has experience in education both in Spain and abroad working as a Principal at Oxford International and Resident Director at CAPA The Global Education Network. We are very excited to welcome her and look forward to catching up in the future.
Let us know in the comments if you have any questions for Jane and be sure to say hi if you see her around the school.
New accreditation – Eaquals
We are very pleased to announce, after a lot of hard work from our teachers and administration team, that we have passed our Eaquals Accreditation! Hooray!
Eaquals are a set of rigorous inspections which check the quality of teaching and services in language schools. And we Ìre delighted to receive accreditation because it means we are providing you with the best quality classes and meeting the highest international standards.
It was a long process, but most definitely worth it! So we’d like to thank all the teachers and students for their support during these inspections. Great job everyone!
Studying really late at night can be tiring so we have a new timetable to fit your schedule. The Monday – Friday evening English Intensive will now run from 18:30 – 20:30, meaning you can enjoy the dynamic, 10-week, 100-hour course at an earlier (and more convenient) time!
As with other OH intensive courses, students can benefit from small classes (maximum 8) and free enrolment. So, come, sign up and improve a whole level in just one term.
Here are your options for our intensive English courses:
For beginners who want to kick-start their English with maximum classroom time, we now have the A1 English Intensive course.
By the end of the 100-hour course, you’ll have mastered the basics, grown in confidence and be well on your way to speaking English. We also offer higher levels A2 – C2, so see above for timetables.
For those that can’t commit to a 10-week course, don’t you worry! We still have the English Starter for A1 beginners, which is a flexible, semi-intensive course that starts at the beginning of each month. Classes are 1.5 hours a day and run from Monday – Thursday.
Wondering which level you are? Take our level test to find out!
New events
A new school year means exciting new events! Start by coming to the Oxford House mid-October party in the trendyMau Mau bar.
We’ll also see the return of the very popular Happy Friday – a monthly language exchange at different locations around Barcelona. One week you might find yourself on a scavenger hunt around the city, the next, a board game marathon or a 1920’s themed party in El Rouge. Whatever the event expect lots of games and prizes!
New schools – Escola Diputació and Escola Pia Nostra Senyora
This year Oxford House is proud to be working with 2 other local schools – Escola Diputació and Escola Pia Nostra Senyora, providing their English after school clubs (extraescolares).
Finally, we welcome all our new and returning students this year! Whether you’ve been coming to us for years or you’re a brand new student, we’d like to wish everyone the best start to the academic year.
