They are! However, there\u2019s just one key difference between the two.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #2d346f;\"><strong>What is the difference between a report and a proposal?<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\">Your <strong>report will always be written about something that has already happened<\/strong>. You will need to reflect and give your opinions and suggestions on how something from the past can be improved.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\">However, your <strong>proposal will always be written about the future<\/strong> and normally you will need to persuade your reader to take a particular <em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>course of action<\/strong><\/span><\/em>.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #2d346f;\"><strong>Three steps to write the perfect Cambridge C1 Advanced report\/proposal<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\">Reports and proposals follow exactly the same structure. To keep things simple, let\u2019s just focus on an exam question for a report. In this case, it\u2019s the programme organiser, so you need to write in a formal style.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\">Lastly, you need to identify exactly what you need to include in your report. A lot of students often <em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>skip<\/strong><\/span><\/em> this step, but make sure to give yourself <strong>at least 10 minutes<\/strong> to check your writing.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify; font-size: 15px;\">Here\u2019s a quick checklist of things to <em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>look out for<\/strong><\/span><\/em>:<\/p>\n<div class=\"list_styles\"><ul class=''>\n<span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Have you done what the task asked you to do and kept everything relevant?<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Is your tone, register, style and vocabulary appropriate?<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Is your writing clearly connected, logical and ordered?<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Have you accurately used a good range of spelling and vocabulary?<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Have you checked your spelling, grammar and punctuation?<\/li>\n<\/span>\n<\/ul><\/div><div class=\"clear\"><\/div>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center; font-size: 20px;\"><span style=\"color: #2d346f;\"><strong>Top tips and advice<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"list_styles\"><ul class=''>\n<span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>You have <strong>90 minutes in total<\/strong> for the writing exam.<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>For Part 2, use <strong>10 minutes to plan<\/strong>, <strong>25 minutes to write<\/strong> and <strong>10 minutes to check<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i>Your <strong>word count is between 220 and 260<\/strong>. Don\u2019t go too much over or under this as you\u2019ll get <em><span style=\"color: #008000;\"><strong>penalised<\/strong><\/span><\/em>.<\/li>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 15px;\"><li><i class='icon-ok'><\/i><strong>Remember to plan!<\/strong> Plan the structure as well as the grammar and vocabulary you can use.
