Before the course starts we conduct a needs analysis, completely free and without commitment, for all the students.
At Oxford House we consider an extensive language course to be one which lasts an academic year. At the beginning of the year, some specific goals are set, which will be fulfilled before the end of the 9, 10 or 11 months. Generally speaking, extensive courses are three hours a week, which means that students will have done about 100 hours of classes. A hundred hours of class contact combined with extra work outside of class, normally corresponds to one Trinity level.
All of our courses are tailor-made, thus the following will vary:

An intensive language course is a course which covers what is studied in an extensive course but during a much shorter period of time. Our intensive English, Spanish, Catalan, French, German and Italian courses are ideal for those employees who need to acquire or improve linguistic abilities quickly. We generally consider an intensive course to be at least 6 hours per week, and try to combine them with a regular work schedule.
In our experience, the students who benefit most from an intensive course are those who have recently come to Spain to work and require Spanish or Catalan courses to help them adapt to life in here.
Timetable 10 to 40 hours, from 2 to 5 days in length. Morning, noon, afternoon or evening.

An immersion course is even more intensive as it involves much more daily contact with the chosen language, and normally has a more finite end date. In an immersion course, the employee is immersed in the language during most of the day and the course is generally quite short.
In our experience, those who have benefited most from doing an immersion language course have been business people who have needed to prepare for a presentation, an interview, or a congress.
The course can be organized so that the employee takes advantage of his or her time to the fullest, combining classes and general conversation during the lunch break, with time set aside for other breaks. On previous occasions, our clients have organized immersion courses alongside extensive courses. These courses are truly tailor-made and can be done in groups or individually.
