DELE or Diploma de Español como Lengua Extranjera are official qualifications granted by the Instituto Cervantes which assess the four main language skills: writing, speaking, reading and listening covering six different levels of language competence. The world-renowned DELE exams are recognised by thousands of private organisations as well as Spanish Universities and Chambers of Commerce as proof of Spanish language proficiency for foreign speakers.
You can complement your course with activities that allow you to practice Spanish in relaxed environments where you will have the opportunity to meet people from around the world. For example you can participate in our “Spanish Experience” gatherings, to learn more about Spanish culture, improve your speaking and, at the same time, visit places of interest in Barcelona. You can also attend our language exchange events, “Happy Fridays”, which take place once a month in different bars across the city.
If you’re not an EU citizen and you’re thinking about staying long term in Barcelona, you can do so by applying for a student visa and enrolling in a course that meets the minimum number of required hours of study per week, which is typically 20 hours. At Oxford House, we offer a variety of options to meet this requirement, such as the DELE Preparation course or our Spanish Intensive Courses or teacher training courses.
With a student visa you can:
-Open a bank account, rent a flat in your name, get a mobile phone contract, join a gym, sign up for Bicing (public bicycle system) and more! -Travel freely! Without a student visa you’re only able to stay and travel within the EU for 90 days.
If you choose to study with us, Oxford House will be able to provide you with a letter certifying your enrolment, confirming information such as the course type, dates, and the hours of study per week so that you can start the student visa application process.
Before applying for a student visa, we strongly recommend you review the requirements and conditions at your local Spanish consulate. Oxford House can only certify enrolment in a course once the course fees have been paid for in full, and we are not liable in the case of visas not being granted or delays in the process.
